As I resumed play, one of my friends, Warren, sat down two seats away. Then three girls sat down, one between us and two bracketing us. The girl in the middle was very attractive, with golden hair curled loosely about her shoulders. She had evidently been drinking, and started talking loudly about being the best girl on the Strip (she was also very uninhibited about what details made her the best). Warren was taking all this in since this was his first trip to Las Vegas. She noticed Warren's attention and gently put her hand be-tween his legs under the table. I could see that Warren's playing (at least casino play) was over for the evening. The other two stayed for a while, but finding no action from me (why should I leave during a win streak?), soon departed. When I saw Warren the next morning, he grinned and told me that although he had little basis for comparison, she certainly did live up to her billing.
On a later trip, Warren and I had rented what turned out to be the dog of all rental-car dogs. It eventually broke down, but our luck was holding because we were right in front of a filling sta-tion. tion. We nursed the car into the garage, where Warren decided to i stay and see about getting it fixed. Since we were next to a very, small casino, I decided to go in and play for a short time.

The
place was so small it only had a couple of Blackjack
tables. I sat down at one with a young female dealer
and began to play. My fortune was still holding as
I won about $450 in twenty minutes. The dealer was
very nice, so I tipped her and quit before I lost
my winnings back. You wouldn't have believed the look
on the pit boss's face when I got up a big winner.
The dealer saw it too and said, "Why don't you
stay awhile? The fun is just start-ing." I declined
and went to the cashier's cage.
As
the cashier was counting out my chips the phone rang.
Pick-; ing it up and pausing, the cashier said, "$450,"
then hung up. looked out across the casino and saw
the pit boss hanging up too: Evidently, he had wanted
to know how much I walked out wi He then picked up
the phone and made another call. I turn back to the
cashier and counted my bills before leaving.
